Matt Kobyluck Wins NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown in California

Up Next for Champion is the 10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Charity Ride

Matt Kobyluck and his #40 Mohegan Sun NASCAR Race Team are riding high after a big win at the NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown last weekend in Irwindale, CA. The 2008 NASCAR Championship winning team became the first to win this huge event twice, having previously won the All Star race in 2006.

"That was the wildest finish I have ever been a part of here," Matt said as he climbed from his #40 Mohegan Sun Chevy in victory lane. "Every year it comes down to the last lap and I am so happy to be part of it this year. My guys - I've got the best guys in the business here."

So what's up next for Matt and his Mohegan Sun team?

The 10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity!

Just days after returning to Connecticut from the long haul to Irwindale, California, the team will load their snowmobile's and head north to Rangeley, Maine for the popular annual winter charity event. Matt Kobyluck will continue a great tradition of NASCAR Champions who participate in the Busch Sport Scene Ride for Charity.

"I am thrilled to have Matt joining the 10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Charity event this winter," event organizer and Busch Sport Scene publisher George Campbell said. "Matt is a true champion, he and his Mohegan Sun team worked so hard over the years and really earned their honors this year. I cannot think of a better person to represent this series now. He is one of the most respected drivers on the tour and has become one of the most popular among the fans as well. This will be a great opportunity for race fans in northern New England to meet Matt and see what a great person he is."

Kobyluck, from Uncasville, CT, earned his first career NASCAR Camping World Series East title on the strength of four wins and 12 top 10 finishes in 13 races. As driver and owner of the #40 Mohegan Sun Resort Chevrolet, Kobyluck’s championship season included wins at Watkins Glen International, Music City Motorplex in Nashville Tenn., Adirondack International Speedway in N.Y., and Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT.

"I really am pleased that Matt was able to fit our event into his busy off season schedule," Campbell said. "Not only is Matt a Championship race car driver, but he is a very successful businessman in southern Connecticut as President of the Kobyluck Companies - comprising of Construction, Ready-Mix, Trucking, and Concrete businesses. He is also a very devoted family man."

Before the event in Rangeley, Matt will be a guest on the popular northern New England radio show, In the Pits, on Friday morning. The show airs live every Friday morning between 9-10 AM on Sports Radio WJAB FM 95.5 and AM 1440 in Portland, and "Big Country" WBPW FM 96.9 in Presque Isle, Bangor and New Brunswick.

“We definitely have a lot of things going on,” said Kobyluck. “Probably more than we do during the race season! I’m happy to go and be an ambassador for this series. I’m pretty excited about it actually. It’s a great time to have a chance to sit and talk with the fans.”

The event includes a Poker Run snowmobile ride during the day followed by a full evening of entertainment that will be capped off with a live auction and comedy show. The proceeds go to several charities including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Special Olympics, Travis Roy Foundation, Rangeley Snowmobile Club, Busch Sport Scene Scholarship Fund and the Camping World Series Women's Auxiliary and their various charities.

The tickets will be $15 the day of the event. Busch Sport Scene is a New England based sports magazine. Current Busch Sport Scene subscribers will receive a $5 discount on the day of the event, as will NASCAR, PASS & ACT team members that present their licenses.
